I can get behind the productivity aspect with text. With that said, I ended up returning both the OLED G8 and OLED G6 that I bought after making this video. I bought the Alienware equivalent of the OLED G6 just because it was so much cheaper.

Quite decent to be frank, not trying to imply there is none but it's definitely bearable and can easily be drowned out without having to blast speakers or anything.

Odin 2 Mini any day of the week. The Razer Edge's sole benefit is its larger panel but it'll serve zero purpose in emulation since it is 21:9. And even in some Android native games it won't. The Razer Edge is particularly good for Moonlight where you can take advantage of that 21:9 and refresh rate.

Indeed, someone asked on a different video if Backbone was my only wired telescopic controller that worked with CODM and to my surprise, it was. Also, technically the M05 does have Bluetooth so you could plug it in and use Bluetooth but it would be cheating-ish. Cheers

They are using the coil to conduct the data from one side to the other. If I had to guess, it probably is a data wire dipped in a metal alloy to make a wire that they turn into a coil. Just guesstimating because other than knowing it's the coil, I know nothing else. Cheers! :)

@@GameTechTalk I took my stick drift riddled xbox controller out to the garden last night and smashed it with a hammer so i'm looking to get a new one right now. Any brand apart from microsoft! I'm thinking about buying the flydigi 4 which is a first for me to spend so much on a controller but i'd like paddles and to experience the hall sticks etc. Hopefully it lasts me a while!

@@TheDwarburton Do keep in mind the Flydigi Apex 4 will not work on Xbox with an adapter to convert it compatible. So I will assume that you game on PC and in the event that you do, the Apex 4 is a great pick! Just don't increase the tension all the way, apparently it's been known to cause premature failures as the mechanism breaks.

@@GameTechTalk Yeah I saw amazon reviews saying if you increase the tension too much it will snap and people are recommending to just keep the sticks loose. I am a PC player yes but unfortunate to say the Flydigi dont stock on UK amazon and i'd prefer not to pay shipping especially as I have Prime! Still on the hunt for a good deal on UK amazon sadly. It's a shame too because the FLYDIGI Direwolf 2 PC has a really good deal on right now at £28 Which is £35!!

I actually did not even notice or think of it like that but historically, I've always been of the opinion that advertising on consumer's products should either not happen or at least be optional so I am in agreement. Every car I owned, the first thing I always did was remove the car dealership stuff: "Unless I get a sizeable discount, why would I advertise you" was my line of thinking ahahah! You actually reminded me of that just now.

Thanks! So this answer might surprise you, I'll explain. I would recommend getting a PS5 Dualsense. Basically and to keep it short, Apple's MFi blocks a bunch of controllers, yes you can use the Apex 4 on your iPad but you can only do so using Bluetooth. Xbox and Switch also won't work wired. So if ever you want an option that you can utilize wired AND bluetooth, you are considerably more limited. The Dualsense is one of the few controllers that you will be able to successfully use both with bluetooth or wired if you don't have battery left or if you just want a more steady connection to not have input lag, or not have to deal with radio signal issues. @@dzenisaga7610 No not quite ahahah! In fact, on bluetooth, Dualsense polls higher than any other controller on that list. Both Dualsense and Dualsense Edge can poll 1000hz on Bluetooth but the technology caps it at around 600hz. Most other controllers cap at 125hz on bluetooth. Despite that though, you still have more latency than wired cause it's Bluetooth. All the polling discussed in this video is exclusively when talking wired, which the Dualsense Edge can do 1000hz, the Dualsense regular can do 250hz. It can be overclocked to 1000hz but I don't see how you would do that on iOS. If you want wired 1000hz on iOS the only way that I know of would be the Dualsense Edge or another controller that can spoof as a DS4 or Dualsense.

Hey, thanks! As far as I know, 12-bit colors monitor still don't still exist in the gaming space but I could be wrong. I was indeed using 10-bit colors, I tried both HDMI and DP in case I was running into a DSC anomaly but the results were exactly the same. Since that video, I bought the OLED G6, which I should point out, out the box, the color calibration was extremely different to the OLED G8 and OLED G9 (SmartTV model). I tried calibrating the OLED G6 to reference and got very close but couldn't (it has less calibrating options on-board than G8) so I had to finish the work using Nvidia Panel. I literally have repackaged both the OLED G8 and OLED G6 a few hours ago as I ordered the Alienware equivalent of the OLED G6, got it for 300$ less than the G6 and much like I said in this video, I have observed no reason for me to keep the 4K. OLED pixels are so precise, 4K is absolute overkill if I don't stick my nose to the actual panel. I also have replugged my 1440p IPS (PG279QM) which still looked great, don't know why I decommissioned that panel tbh but there is definitely a difference in sharpness versus the OLED G6 and I am not referring to post processing sharpness but rather raw visuals. Last but not least, 360hz is a more noticeable difference in my personal testings but it is still an extremely minimal jump (from 4ms to 2.8ms per image) and will only have any impact IF I can hit 360hz, thankfully at 1440p, the 4090 hits it way more than I thought it would to be honest, frame gen is of great help naturally. If I had replugged the IPS before doing all those testings, I might have bought the 500hz from Alienware to test too but at this point, I'm gonna stop there and put my monitor testings to rest until I feel ready to change a panel again. This is a considerably longer answer than you asked for but I hope it will answer any questions you may have had, if not, ask away, I'm an open book. Cheers!

Oh totally that you did. As a first unit owner, you can't really do much better to be honest. Sure it's more expensive but it's also a solution that goes far beyond emulation which I think is too often forgotten when talking about the Odin 2s. Sure emulation is fun and all but there's so much more to it. Also, it's a very "rabbit hole" kind of hobby to get into but quite frankly, the Odin 2 Mini is so portable that there is hardly any reason to buy the Anbernics, Retroid and Powkiddy alternatives. Everything else will be considerably underwhelming in comparison unless you want to have "one device per emulated system". Yeah, honestly, a lot of people burned a lot of $ to get to that point, you went straight for one, if not the most well rounded devices for power, value, portability. Great decision on your end!

So as it turns out, I somehow can't activate G-Touch on the RM8P, I wonder if it has anything to do with the screen overlay mapping being already "taken over" by the phone's triggers? Anyway, I didn't have a lot of time to troubleshoot this, sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I was contemplating it for a minute because I was reading inconsistent inputs from different people that implied I got bad panel lottery. Ultimately, I held off because much like blooming, there are certain situations that makes it more/less apparent. All in all, it worked ok since I now use the Odin 2 Mini and it has some QoL features I enjoy, namely the portability but let me tell you, if my Odin 2 had a better screen, this review would've changed at least a little bit. Can't say that I do but there is this thing extremely rare to run into but not impossible. Your USB-C needs to have OTG support, otherwise, the controller won't work. But if you are able to plug say a microphone, a USB drive, or whatever else in your phone, that's not it. The other issue would be, have you held select+start to cycle from different modes? Or when you say it doesn't work, is it that it literally doesn't even power up (LEDs stay shut). Sorry I can't be of more help, let me know if mode swapping did it for you.

Yes it does, I often play Roblox with my sons! 😂 Mind you, controller compatibility can be off in certain games, that depends on the developers though, not the controller itself.

***Warning, wall-of-text incoming.*** Alright, so for the record, I now have the OLED G8, the OLED G6 and the Alienware AW2725DF, I had to test things. I might do a follow up video, I might not. To answer your questions. The difference in nits, in my honest opinion, will be negligeable IF you play in a dark space. Your eyes adjust to let an ideal amount of brightness in. Sure, initially, you may see a slight difference but over short time, it'll settle. However, I would recommend using the OLED panel in HDR to just about nullify that concern you have. The QD-OLED Gen3 360hz panels do not have the same color calibration out of the box, the OLED G8 is better calibrated. I did calibrate the OLED G6 and got about 95% there, couldn't push it further as it has less settings unfortunately but I could do the rest in Windows. Highly recommended to calibrate it. The G8 also has a snappier (and more feature rich) OS, though that may be useless to you, as it is to me, except for the remote control, that's nice to have. For sharpness. I do not expect that you would see a noticeable difference if you sit at least at 40cm or more from your panel. Closer than that, the difference still remains not as impactful than versus jumping resolution on LCD tech, I have my doubts as to why that is but by the response from this video, I don't think people want to hear it. I also wouldn't expect a major uplift in colors because IPS is particularly good for that. The three mega obvious advantages will be deeper and more precise blacks, no more light dimming blooming and the best is the AMAZING response time of OLED panel. 120hz or 144hz on LCD tech (VA, TN, IPS) does NOT feel like like 120hz or 144hz on OLED. OLED is far smoother in frame by frame delivery. In fact, when I moved to my first OLED panel as pointed out in this video, I moved from a 4k 240hz VA panel to a 1440p 240hz OLED. Setting my OLED panel at 120hz almost feel as responsive as the VA 240hz, that's how much of a difference the response time of 0.003ms makes. The one disadvantage and the only real one in my opinion will be text clarity, with that said, I'm not picky on that and I spend most of my time working on these monitors, I hardly play because I have too little time from doing RUclips. With that said, I would recommend going for the OLED G6 (or any other QD-OLED Gen 3 360hz equivalent) because you will not feel like you lost much clarity (to not say at all) but you will gain a considerable uplift in performance due to having to cast a lower resolution, which will help to rather push those FPSes. I am pretty determined on my end that I'll be keeping the Alienware because I got it for a great price and it's literally the same as the OLED G6 minus of course the frame, the stand. Oh and last, I sincerely think Samsung did probably what is the best job I've ever seen from a matte panel, that is a major concern I had that turned out to be very bearable. Sorry for the wall-of-text, I do hope this helps, ask away if you have more questions! :)

@@Butterflys07 That is a great question, and to be honest, I do not know the answer. I would think just from any other panel before it that it would shift over time but OLED is such a surprising tech when it comes to defying pre-determined expectations that I sincerely don't know what to tell you. If temperature, long exposure, direct sunlight, or any other else situation can cause color shifting over time, I'm sure it's been studied but to tell you that I know the answer would be a lie. Sorry to say I can't help you on that one.

Totally! And I assure you, it's not my go-to shape either but like Shem said (RetroBreeze), somehow they managed to make it feel different despite looking like other controllers of that same type. I think that perfectly sums up how I feel about the EasySMX M05 shape and I would add that the differences it has makes it more comfortable than the options it looks like. Cheers!

@@danieloku7560 Don't worry, you don't bother me at all, I was editing and taking a break before the last stretch! The X2s has one very specific advantage over the M05 and it is the fact that you can stretch it for a tablet mode. If that is not important for you, don't bother. Otherwise, the M05 is pretty much on all front a superior product as far as I am concerned.

So HexGaming actually has that exact policy on their website. Will paraphrase but basically it mentions that stick drift is covered lifetime and they'll repair free of charge. That doesn't mean everything is covered but the one thing that is the most important certainly is and some other stuff too, can't recall. The DRIFIX is a nice peace of mind for at least a couple of times that the controller would otherwise be dead.

I was recommended to look at it about a year ago when I reviewed the Backbone One. I skipped on it as I was having a RUclips hiatus at the time, I think that ship has sailed for now but if ever I find myself in need of content to make, I'll consider it or if they were to reach out but for now, I have enough on my plate to wait for the next product instead.
